Confirmation has come from both the Home Office and Hull City Council today that the Royal Hotel at Hull Paragon Station will no longer house asylum seekers.

The hotel, in Hull City Centre, has been used for more than six years to house asylum seekers who are awaiting a decision from the Home Office. Following the awful riots in the summer of 2024, the Government took swift action and pledged to end all use of asylum hotels by the end of this parliament by 2029.

The Home Office have confirmed that all those currently accommodated in the closing hotel be notified of the closure and relocated in advanced of the proposed closure date in December of 2026.

While the future of The Royal Hotel has not yet been confirmed, it would be fantastic to see
