Hull North MP Diana Johnson has been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Minister of State for Pension Reform, Stephen Timms.

Diana Johnson MP said: "I am delighted to have an opportunity to be closer to the heart of government.

"It is a particular pleasure to be working with a Minister who has a remit that covers issues such as pension reform, age discrimination, Winter Fuel Payments and other areas of importance to Hull North.

"I do, of course, still see my main role as being a good constituency MP batting for Hull's interests at Westminster."
