New figures from Labour show that 71% of families with children in Hull North could be hit be David Cameron's Tax Credit cuts.

Three quarters of the constituency's children exactly 75% - are in households who currently receive tax credits.

The House of Commons figures also show that well over half of families in Hull North receiving Tax Credits are in work.

68% of Hull West and Hessle families receive tax credits, while two thirds of families in Hull East benefit from the payments.

The figures leave Hull well above the national average of 51% of families.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "David Cameron and George Osborne still haven't come clean about exactly what cuts to Tax Credits they propose, but it's becoming increasingly clear that low-paid families are in the firing line.

"Despite their rhetoric about a Living Wage and making work pay, we've seen no plans from the Government to compensate workers for what they could lose in Tax Credits. This will come on top of what they've lost since 2010.

"As has so often been the case under the Tories, Hull North families are going to feel the cuts the most. No wonder Cameron and Osborne deliberately hid their proposals from public view during the Election.

"Now they must come clean and spell their plans out."
