MPs praise Hull on child road safety

More than 120 Members of Parliament from nine political parties are supporting a Parliamentary Early Day Motion (EDM) from Diana Johnson MP praising Hull City Council's work on reducing child road deaths.The EDM praises Hull's work on introducing 20 mile per hour zones in targeted locations, which has led to a 74 per cent cut in child pedestrian casualties. The EDM encourages the Government and local authorities to follow Hull's example across the country. Speaking in the House of Commons today, Hull North Diana Johnson MP called on the Leader of the House of Commons to hold a debate on her EDM.Diana Johnson said: "Reducing the number of child road casualties has been an area where Hull City Council is doing pioneering work and we should give credit where it's due."Ends
