Hull North MP Diana Johnson has welcomed the Government's creation of a single NHS Primary Care Trust (PCT) for Hull.
The changes, announced today (Tuesday 16 May) in the House of Commons, will take effect from October 2006 and aim to:
Create a closer relationship between health, social care and emergency services
Cut red tape, releasing more money to build better value frontline services for patients.
Improve emergency planning with more resources to respond to major incidents
Diana Johnson MP said: "Having a single Teaching PCT for Hull, instead of the current two, makes sense. It will build on the successful collaboration between the existing PCTs and Hull City Council in combating the major public health issues that we face in Hull."
