Hull North MP Diana Johnson is encouraging her local constituents to join the World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 29 September 2006.

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is in its 16th year and is one of the largest fundraising events in the UK. Last year nearly two million people took part in the fun by hosting or attending coffee morning events across Britain. They raised a staggering £6.5 million between them.

One in three people will get cancer, with 1.2 million people in the UK living with the disease. All money raised last year helped Macmillan to be a source of practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those affected by cancer. Every cup of coffee on 29 September counts and every £1 raised can make a difference to help people through their cancer journey.

Diana Johnson MP said: "The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is a great way to raise money for a fantastic cause while having fun with friends and family.

"Cancer is has affected so many of my constituents in Hull North. This coffee morning is a great way to make a difference and help Macmillan Cancer Support fund its vital work for people living with cancer.

"So, come on Hull North, get the coffee and biscuits out and invite all your friends. Let's make all our cups of coffee count!"

Log onto www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee or call the Macmillan Hotline on 0845 602 1246 to register to host your own coffee morning or to find out more about the event.
