Hull North MP Diana Johnson today slammed the decision by Hull City Council's Lib Dem Cabinet to reintroduce charges of £1.10 for primary school meals from September.
Diana Johnson MP said: "Hull's Lib Dems have done everything, including trying to mislead people about Hull University's recent report , to talk down the success and local popularity of Hull's pioneering Eat Well Do Well policy in our primary schools.
"In the ten years since the Labour Government came to power, Hull City Council has had Budget increases averaging six per cent each year in a decade when inflation has averaged around two per cent. Hull councillors could afford to continue to with 'Eat Well Do Well' if local children and their long-term public health was a priority."
