Diana Johnson MP

24/09/05, 00:00

Hull North MP Diana Johnson is encouraging people in Hull to join in Macmillan Cancer Relief's World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 30 September to raise money to help people living with cancer.

There are currently over one million people in the UK who have had a diagnosis of cancer so Macmillan's nurses, doctors, information and support service are needed now, more than ever.

Last year, the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, now in its 15th year, raised over £5.3 million in a single morning. All over the UK people held coffee mornings in their homes, at work and at school and this year the charity is hoping that even more people will join in. Being a part of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning can be as simple as putting the kettle on and asking friends, family or colleagues to have a coffee and make a donation for each cup they drink. Macmillan provides everything you need, from invitations to a collection box.

Diana Johnson MP says: "More than one in three people will be diagnosed with cancer at some time in their life. All of us know someone who has been affected by cancer and many of us have experienced the care and support Macmillan offers to people with cancer.

"It's not too late to make sure you're part of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning on 30 September it's such a simple way to help raise money for Macmillan. I hope as many people as possible in Hull will join in with one of the local coffee mornings or register their own one with Macmillan."

To register to host your own coffee morning or to find out more please call the Macmillan Hotline on 0845 602 1246 or visit the website at www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee
