Hull MP dismisses low-content Queen's Speech

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has responded to today's Queens Speech.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "With the scale of the challenges facing the country on securing long term economic growth and on easing the cost of living crisis for families, a Queen's Speech where the most newsworthy item seems to be a 5p levy on plastic carrier bags doesn't measure up.

"Although the Tories and Lib Dems remain united on the unfair treatment they've imposed on Hull and the North since 2010, the lack of content in this Queen's Speech is a sign of a shambolic Coalition Government running short of new ideas for legislation that they can agree on as they stagger towards an Election."
