Hull North MP and Shadow Home Office Minister Diana Johnson today challenged the Government over the reduction on frontline police numbers.
Speaking in the Commons during Home Office Questions, Diana Johnson MP said: "The Home Secretary has frequently claimed that her 20% cuts to police funding will not reduce the frontline.
"We can all agree that 999 first responders, including traffic, CID and neighbourhood police, are indeed 'frontline' officers.
"Would the Minister therefore confirm that recent Freedom of Information requests show that frontline police numbers have fallen by 5,261 since March 2010?"
