Hull North MP Diana Johnson is visiting the Hull Carers' Centre tomorrow (Friday 2 December) to support Carers' Rights Day.
Now in its sixth year, Carers' Rights Day highlights the needs of the nation's six million carers - those who look after sick, frail or disabled relatives and partners. This year is centred around older carers, with particular emphasis on carers' take up of Pension Credit.
Diana Johnson MP said: "Carers are society's unsung heroes who make an enormous supporting contribution to our economy as well as to the welfare of those they look after.
"It is always a pleasure to visit Hull Carers' centre where they do such excellent work. I'm pleased that the Carers' Rights Day this year is helping raise the issue of benefits take-up amongst carers, especially the large amount of Pension Credit and disability benefits that remains unclaimed."
