Denis Healey backs Labour's Diana Johnson

Denis Healey today urged Hull North voters to back Labour's candidate Diana Johnson in the General Election on 6 May.

In a message, which will be delivered across Hull North from the weekend, Denis Healey, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, says: "I urge you to vote for Labour's Diana Johnson on Thursday 6 May.

"Voting any other way means a Tory government. This would be terrible for everyone in Hull from pensioners to young families. I remember what the Tories were like before. They haven't changed.

"With the Lib Dems wanting to support the Tories if there was a hung parliament, only a vote for Labour's Diana Johnson is a vote to keep the Tories out."

The first of the leaflets containing Denis Healey's message for Hull North will be delivered by another Healey, Housing Minister John Healey, when he visits Hull North's Orchard Park Estate tomorrow (Friday 30 April).

Labour's Diana Johnson said: "It's great to have this message of support from Denis Healey the original, the Labour and the best Denis Healey. It was also a pleasure to meet Denis and see that he's still in fine form.

"So that there's no mistaken identity, Labour's Denis Healey should not be confused with a Leconfield resident who has a similar name."
