Hull MP demands higher priority for Northern transport investment

Speaking in the House of Commons, Diana Johnson MP demanded that if extra money was available for transport schemes, the North should get top priority for it.
 
This follows the latest news that the High Speed Two rail scheme would be seven years later than promised and cost £22bn more - taking its total budget to around £80bn.

The Labour MP compared the delays to investment in the North to the billions spent improving transport in London and the South East on schemes such as Crossrail.

MP raises concern about management of Hull Paragon Station

Hull North MP Diana Johnson told the House of Commons about the multiple failings of the management of Hull Paragon Station by TransPennine Express.
 
The latest issue to arise was the closure of the Anlaby Road entrance to the station from 9.30 to 16.30 each day, without proper consultation with local disability groups and others, in response to anti-social behaviour from a minority.
