Hull MP raises latest reports of delay to Hull's A63 upgrade in Commons

Speaking in the Commons today, Hull North MP Diana Johnson raised today’s media report that the upgrade to Hull’s A63 Castle Street could now be delayed until the 2020s.

This follows recent news that Hull will also not see rail electrification until the 2020s.

Speaking in Business Questions in the Commons today, Diana Johnson MP asked Chris Grayling, the Leader of the House of Commons: "The Leader of the House referred to investing in rail and roads earlier.

New report shows the regional divide growing under the Coalition

A new research report, edited by Hull North MP Diana Johnson, arguing that regional inequality has worsened under the Coalition Government is being launched today (20 March).

The Unions 21 report, entitled Rebalancing the Economy: New Thinking on Britain’s Regional Inequalities, argues that the regional divide has reasserted itself under the Coalition since 2010 because, despite ministerial rhetoric, little has been done to fundamentally rebalance the economy.

Budget is missed opportunity for Hull

No Hull rail electrification until 2024?

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: “Today’s announcement from the Transport Secretary shows that Hull could wait as long as 2024 for rail electrification.
 
“Had the Coalition Government shown any urgency for Hull rail electrification in the months after November 2013, when Hull first won national City of Culture, it was at that stage still possible for this scheme to happen in time for 2017.
