Hull MP demands fair deal for Hull on NHS and council funding

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today accused the Coalition Government of failing to give Hull a fair deal on local government and NHS funding.

Diana Johnson MP told the House of Commons: "On 9 August, the Hull Daily Mail led with the following report:

“Yesterday the Prime Minister said A & E departments would get a share of the money over the next two years, to ensure they are fully prepared for winter.”

Coalition snubs Hull A&E for winter crisis cash

Hull North MP Diana Johnson will today visit the Accident and Emergency Department at Hull Royal Infirmary days after Ministers snubbed Hull for winter crisis cash.

Hull and East Yorkshire Health Trust recently bid for approximately £2m from the £250m extra funding being allocated to A&Es across the country to help relieve the increased pressures experienced during the winter months. This is part of the £500m of top-up funding for A&Es that the Prime Minister recently announced for the next two years.

Hull MP calls on Hull people to send David Cameron a message as NHS turns 65

To mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of the NHS on 5 July, Hull North MP Diana Johnson has called on Hull people to celebrate this incredible institution.

The appeal came as Labour MPs gathered at Westminster to send the NHS birthday wishes.
