Hull MP tells Commons about state of services in Hull for children with autism

Hull North MP Diana Johnson made the speech below in her adjourment debate on the Diagnosis of children on the autism spectrum in Hull.

Diana Johnson (Kingston upon Hull North) (Lab): First, I would like to thank you, Mr Speaker, for selecting for the Adjournment debate this evening the important subject of the unacceptable length of time families in Hull are having to wait for a diagnosis of autism for their children. It is an issue I have grown increasingly concerned about over the course of the past year.

Hull MP co-sponsors Bill to reverse NHS privatisation drive

With Hull’s local NHS under increasing threat, a Hull MP tomorrow co-sponsors a Commons Bill to repeal the Coalition Government’s NHS privatisation policy - and to put patients first instead.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson is one of the key backers of a Commons Bill being introduced in the House of Commons by Eltham Labour MP Clive Efford.

The National Health Service (Amended Duties and Powers) Bill would scrap David Cameron’s competition rules framework for the NHS and make sure that local NHS patients are always put first.

Hull A&E gets ‘sticking plaster’ funding

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has responded to news that Hull NHS A&E will get £2m of extra funding to help with pressures this Winter.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: “The £2m that’s been announced is better than last Winter when Hull A&E didn’t get a penny of the £250m that was allocated.

“Today’s better news comes after I’ve been protesting regularly in Parliament all year about the Government’s unfair treatment of Hull last Winter.

Diana attends Hull North petitioning session for 'Save NHS' campaign

Diana Johnson MP joined local campaigners in Newland Avenue to collect names for a petition to oppose NHS privatisation.

Diana Johnson MP said: “We are campaigning to save our NHS for future generations from the creeping privatisation introduced by this Coalition.”

The Hull North Labour MP is also sponsoring a Commons Private Member’s Bill to repeal the damaging competition rules inflicted on the NHS by the Coalition Government.
