Labour Shadow Crime Minister protests at 'soft' sentence for Stuart Hall

Hull North MP and Labour Shadow Crime and Security Minister Diana Johnson has written to the Attorney General about the 15 month sentence given to Stuart Hall.

Diana Johnson MP said: "I have written to ask that the Attorney General uses his powers to refer this 15 month sentence for Stuart Hall to the Court of Appeal on the basis that it is unduly lenient and not in the public interest.

"The offences that Mr Hall has been convicted of are extremely serious and there can be no doubt that Mr Hall is a dangerous and unpleasant sex offender who used his position of power to gain access to, and then abuse, vulnerable young girls."

Diana appeared with one of the former BBC presenter's victims on the ITV Daybreak programme this morning.
