Cameron's futile gesture on green energy risks Hull jobs

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has slammed David Cameron's statement in today's Prime Minister's Questions that he is reviewing state support for green energy.

Diana Johnson MP said: "While rejecting Labour's energy price freeze, which he could introduce now, the Prime Minister now threatens to cut support for renewable energy.

"To talk of slashing Government subsidy for green energy, on top of the Coalition's long-running confusion over their long-term backing for UK renewable energy generation, as we've seen with their refusal to set 2030 carbon targets, would be hugely unhelpful for Hull's hope of finalising the crucial Siemens jobs.

"The Prime Minister's futile gesture sends the green energy sector the message that the UK doesn't want their investment."
