MP welcomes Local Commission report on Hull and East Riding boundaries

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has responded to today's report about local government boundaries between Hull and the East Riding produced by the Hull Commission.
Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "I note the reasonable economic points that the Local Commission makes in favour of expanding Hull's boundaries into the East Riding. However, it's also clear that there is profound opposition to this from East Riding residents and their local authority.
"As I argued in the Hull Daily Mail recently, this debate about boundaries, elected mayors and devolution must be a means to an end not an end in itself. The objective has to be to build on and turbo-charge recent work to regenerate the Hull and Humber economy."
