Diana Johnson, Labour MP for Hull North

I am Hull North’s local Labour Member of Parliament. First elected in May 2005, and re-elected in May 2010, I work hard representing the Hull wards of Avenue, Beverley, University, Bransholme East, Bransholme West, Orchard Park and Greenwood, Bricknell, King’s Park and Newland. Although this website only covers a small fraction of my activity, I hope that it provides a useful insight into the nature of my work for Hull North.

4 February 2010: Legg Review of MPs' allowances published

Legg letters to Diana Johnson MPWith today's publication of the final report from Sir Thomas Legg's forensic audit of all MPs' second home allowance claims going back over the past four years, click opposite to read the two letters that Diana Johnson MP received last autumn from Sir Thomas.

The Legg Review applied to MPs' claims under the Additional Costs Allowance (ACA) what are effectively the tighter rules that Parliament is moving to after the recent Kelly Report on MPs' allowances.

Diana says: “The new Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority will now bring practical effect to the reforms that are needed to clean up the system. It is especially important that arrangements for MPs’ allowances and salaries should be handled independently of MPs from now on.”
