Diana Johnson, Labour MP for Hull North

I am Hull North’s local Labour Member of Parliament. First elected in May 2005, and re-elected in May 2010, I work hard representing the Hull wards of Avenue, Beverley, University, Bransholme East, Bransholme West, Orchard Park and Greenwood, Bricknell, King’s Park and Newland. Although this website only covers a small fraction of my activity, I hope that it provides a useful insight into the nature of my work for Hull North.

Dear Editor

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend my coffee morning on Sunday 29 June to discuss the on-going issues around flooding in Hull.

Neil Sykes from the National Consumer Council for Water heard at first-hand about the various problems still affecting my constituents a year after the events of 25 June 2007. Residents in Bransholme and Kingswood stressed the need for Yorkshire Water to engage with the local community about their investment plans for the next five years, with a view to funding increased pumping capacity at the Bransholme Pumping Station.

Having suffered some flooding in my own home, I know that its effects are many and varied.  Some people who were worst-hit will need help and assistance for many months - and probably years - to come.

Yours sincerely

Diana Johnson MP
