Elected in May 2005, I work hard representing the Hull wards of Avenue, Beverley, University, Bransholme East, Bransholme West, Orchard Park and Greenwood, Bricknell, King’s Park and Newland. 15 January 2010: Diana speaks at Hull University school food seminar

Free school meals research breakfastAs School Food Minister, Diana was invited to speak at a research breakfast meeting on school meals at the University of Hull. The University was at the forefront of evaluating the success of Labour's pioneering free healthy school meals policy in Hull's primary schools until 2007, when the Lib Dem Council axed the scheme.

Diana was able to report on the early success of the Government's universal free school meal pilots that have been taking place in Newham and Durham since September 2009. The take up of school meals has already increased massively. Meanwhile, in Hull the take-up of school meals has fallen back.

Promoted by Ray Collins, General Secretary, the Labour Party, on behalf of the Labour Party, both at 39 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HA.
